A kiosk is open from early morning until late at night, usually with one person at the counter. Cigarettes, water, newspapers, phone top-ups: dozens of payments of a few euros, most of them in cash. Each one means counting, hunting for change and an open drawer full of money.

A cash machine for kiosks changes that routine: the customer pays at the machine, gets their change automatically, and the cash stays locked away. Below you’ll see how it helps kiosks and mini markets. For the basics of the machine itself, see our complete guide to automatic cash machines.

One person at the counter, lots of payments

At a kiosk, the same person serves, fetches drinks from the fridge, answers the phone and gives change. When three customers arrive at once, counting cash becomes the slowest part of the job.

With an automatic cash machine, the customer puts in notes and coins by themselves and the machine pays out the correct change. You hand over the product and move on to the next customer, without ever opening a drawer.

Cash security, especially at night

An open drawer of cash, in a space that opens straight onto the street, is always a risk. With an automatic cash machine, the money goes straight into the machine and stays locked inside. You don’t count money in front of customers or keep large amounts within easy reach.

  • Locked cash: the drawer doesn’t open with every sale.
  • Less money on show: customers pay the machine, not your hand.
  • Real-time visibility: you always know how much cash is inside.

Till shortfalls and closing without counting

With lots of small payments and changing shifts, till shortfalls are almost inevitable: a mistake with change here, a coin there. The automatic cash machine works out the change the same way every time, and at the end of a shift the total is already known. Handovers happen without counting, and without “where did that fiver go?”.

A cash machine for mini markets

The local mini market has the same issues on a bigger scale: more products, bigger receipts, often two members of staff. With an automatic cash machine, staff scan and bag while the customer pays, and the till always balances at closing.

Space and installation: plug and play

Space in a kiosk is precious. The machine needs a spot on the counter and a power socket. It’s plug and play: plug it in and it works. If you like, we install it for you (€350 + VAT) and connect it to your POS (€350 + VAT).

What it costs for a kiosk

  • Rent: €159 a month + VAT, with a 24-month minimum. At the start you pay a 2-month deposit (refundable) and month 1. Maintenance is included.
  • Buy: €9,500 + VAT, one-off, with a 3-year warranty.
  • Transport: to Greece €95 + VAT; for Cyprus we tell you the cost before delivery.

For most kiosks, renting is the easiest way to start. See exactly what cash machine rental includes, or compare all our prices for renting and buying.
